Editor's note
Reframed: coursework language → named editorial work.
Before
Completed a year-long senior editorial practicum, serving as editor-in-chief of the campus literary magazine and overseeing the production of the senior issue.
After
Edited the 80-page senior issue from solicitation through proof; commissioned eleven new pieces and cut the slush pile from 320 submissions to a 22-piece table of contents.

Summary
Two years editing a college literary magazine, one summer reporting for a regional weekly, and six months freelancing for a small Rhode Island publication. Edits for argument first and rhythm second. Looking for a desk where the work is read carefully before it is shipped.
Experience
Editor-in-Chief
The Aldrich Review • Providence, RI
Sep 2023 — May 2025
- Edited the 80-page senior issue from solicitation through proof; commissioned eleven new pieces and cut the slush pile from 320 submissions to a 22-piece table of contents.
- Ran a fourteen-person masthead across two print issues a year and a weekly online column on a $9,400 annual budget from the student activities office.
- Rewrote the magazine's submissions guidelines and contributor agreement after a contested takedown request in spring 2024; the new policy is what the incoming editor inherited.
- Paired with the design editor on a full typographic refit for issue 47, set in Source Serif, two columns at 10/14, which the magazine has kept.
Freelance Writer and Editor
The Narragansett Current • Providence, RI
Nov 2025 — Present
- Wrote a four-part series on small-town libraries in southern Rhode Island; the second installment, on Westerly's bookmobile route, ran on the front page of the print weekend edition in February 2026.
- Fact-checked roughly 40 short news items a month against primary sources (town meeting minutes, RIDOT filings, court dockets) at a flat rate of $22 per item.
- Edited two longer features for a staff reporter on deadline, including a 2,400-word piece on a contested zoning vote that ran with the changes intact.
Editorial Intern
The Providence Phoenix • Providence, RI
Jun 2024 — Aug 2024
- Briefed three staff writers on assigned features; built the brief template the arts desk still uses for incoming freelancers.
- Wrote eight short reviews (300–500 words) for the summer arts calendar; line edits only after the second week.
- Sat in on the Tuesday news budget meeting and took the running notes; the notes doc was handed to the next intern on day one.
